Design and Implementation of HDLC Synchronous Serial Port for ATC Radar

Radar is an important part of the ATC surveillance system, and the flight target data obtained by primary surveillance radar (PSR), secondary surveillance radar (SSR) and ADS-B and other equipment are sent to the air traffic control (ATC) automation system for processing.

Because the HDLC protocol is characterized by reliable transmission, easy splitting and aggregation, the ATC radar data network uses the HDLC protocol to transmit target data. Therefore, ATC radar and ADS-B equipment must be able to support HDLC protocol and provide multiple synchronized serial ports for outputting radar data.

For radar and ADS-B equipment with only network interface, it is necessary to convert Ethernet output to synchronous serial output with the help of protocol converter, and then access data to radar data network through HDLC protocol.
